  • Forced to use AGP x1 - Hardware fault or 'feature'?

    Hi all.
After much pain and suffering (freezing Techdemo, squiffy desktop and much soul searching) I eventually buried my worries by forcing AGP to x1.
So. Is this just 'one of those things' that seems to be the mainstay of PC ownership these days, or is this a genuine fault with a G400 which should be replaced?

    Spec: Celery 400 (not o/c'd), Asus P2B, G400 DH 32Mb, SBAwe64, Pioneer x6 DVD, etc etc...

You should be able to run at 2X with your setup. Why don't you post your IRQ assignments and tell us what slots your PCI and ISA cards are in, and we'll go from there.

I agree, has to be your setup. I have an overclocked g400max on an overclocked agp bus and its running fine at 2x agp.
I would make sure you have your agp multiplier setting correct in your bios, and check if you are also shadowing any of the vid bios or ram.
