  • ASUS P5A, G400 and AGP.

    I've got a ASUS P5A mobo with a AMD k6 3 450/473MHz. 128mb ram and a 16mb SH G400.

The CPU was clocked by pushing the CPU bus from 100 to 105MHz, this was all I could manage while keeping it stable :-(. This in turn pushed the AGP bus from 66 to 70MHz, now this runs fine. But PCIList tells me 2xAGP isn't being used. I've tried forcing it by editing the Windows registry.

That didn't work. Anyone know if my Mobo actually supports 2x AGP as I was sure it did.

From what I heard the latest AGP driver from ALI might be able to give you 2X
    Driver version is 1.65.

it does support agp2x, my p5a is running x2 right now!

You need to find the registry key for the agp-driver as well as the entry for the g400, this has been solved earlier, I will try and post the adress when I find it

Cheers guys for the help, I'll try the reg hacks and look for Driver 1.65, I've currently only got 1.6.

              And that's me!! :-D

Anyway, I saw some other ALi AGP settings in the registry for ALi AGP, and wonder anyone tried to play around with them and got better performance?

I've also noted that there are several other settings to play with in the AGP driver reg settings.

But sorry guys, I've also not played with them yet :-(

                Might try later!!

Gum, I haven't had the time nor the guts to play with the other settings, but Im interested in any experiences other people may have had.
