  • G200 hangs Win98SE at shutdown

I tried installing Win98SE onto a new partition. It was working fine until I installed the new video drivers, 5.30, for my Millennium G200 + Rainbow Runner G. The first restart (just after driver install) went smoothly, and the second restart after that went smoothly. Now, however, whenever I try to shut down or restart Windows, the system hangs. Generally, it either blacks out the screen with the cursor visible, or it shows the desktop with the cursor visible. The cursor does not move, however, if I move the mouse, and the keyboard input is not recognized. A couple times I got a blue screen error in VMM(01). Ideas? I heard that it might be related to my mouse (Logitech MouseMan Wheel), but I tried using a different mouse and the problems continued.

Disable fast shutdown option. There is a download from Microsoft if you can't do it yourself. It is a known bug ( "improvemnet" ) in Win98 SE. Went through it myself.
