  • G400+VIA Apollo Pro Plus=Hang in NT4

    Hi,

    My system is:
    Matrox G400 SH, 16MB
    2theMax 3VBA motherboard (VIA Apollo Pro+ chipset)
    Celeron 400MHZ
    128MB RAM
    NT Server 4

I have upgraded the BIOS on G400 (1.04) and the motherboard, downloaded the newest driver for the G400 (4.22) and service Pack (SP6). However, the NT often hangs and the whole screen freezes and I have to restart my computer. It is strange that the computer runs happily in Windows 98, but it is a nightmare in Windows NT.

Any ideas of what to do next, any patches? Should I change to other display card?

    Thanks in advance

Try to force AGP 1x, use older drivers, install the latest VIA drivers set, make sure there's no shared IRQ in your PC.

      Thanks.

I have disabled AGP 2x mode in BIOS and my NT now runs smoothly, no hang anymore.

But I want to ask, why I have to disable AGP 2x mode? Is it the NT problem or G400 driver problem?
