  • My G400 don't work with DirectX

    Hi, here my system:
-Main Board 6ABX2V/6AZX2V ATX form factor
-Pentium III 500 Mhz 64 Mb RAM
    -HD 10 GB
-Matrox Millenium G400 DualHead 32 Mb with
    driver 5.30
-Sound Blaster Live with driver 3.0
    -Windows 98 SE
    -DirectX 6.1

    and here the problem:
all the games that use Direct3D (DirectX)
don't work, the screen become black for
few seconds (matrox demo too) and then
it end e comeback to desktop.
With all Direct3D demos from Microsoft I
    see fatal error in D3Dim.dll.

With opengl (Quake III Arena test)
    it work fine.

In the store where I buy the computer
they don't find the way to solve this problem, please help me.

Thank you very much and excuse me for my
    bad english.

Failing all else, a nice reinstall of Windows might be in order.
If its been longer than 6 months since the last time you reformatted, its long overdue anyway. I've seen wierdness like this, and frankly, its less aggravating just starting from scratch (After backing up your data of course) than it is wracking your brain trying to figure out what's conflicting with what.
It sounds to me like you added the G400 to replace some other video card, right? If so, there are probably residiual drivers from the previous card lurking about somewhere. This is why it's always reccomended that you uninstall any such drivers and resetting to Standard VGA before installing a new video card.
It does suck having to reformat, but such is our punishment for living under microsoft's regime. I've never seen anything acquire bloat quite like windows does.

tonigreco. When you say after one week the problem is ther. Are you trying to say that you "re-take" your system from the store and they pretend that they fix the problem, and after one week, the problem re-start again ?
Just curiosity are you Greeck ?

My concern is with growth. You must grow to become one, to become whole, to become sane. I am not going to force sanity upon you. Rather, I am going to bring out your insanity. When it is pulled out completely, throw into the wind, sanity will happen to you, you will grow. You will be transformated. That is the meaning of meditation

I wanna mean that the computer is still
in the store, now too, and when I phone
            to them their answer is:
"we are trying to fix the problem, but
until now all our work don't fix the problem,
we try other ways next days, call us again"

            I am from Italy

            Ciao
