OK - are you sat down.

    Good.

I've just got a new Abit ZM6 Mobo, Celeron 400 & Matrox 32MB G400 DH. Shoved it all in my system (replacing existing mobo, processor and graphics card) and it worked fine, first time (with a SB Livw! card as well).

Now I know this makes me a lucky git already, but theres more.

My celeron 400 overclocks to 600MHz!!!
I couldn't believe it. It's currently running at a nice and cool 42.5 degrees using the standard Intel fan...(It's been on for over an hour)

    3DMarks @ 400 - 2682
    3DMarks @ 600 - 3937

Now for the wierd bit. Flushed with my overclocking prowess, I thought I'd overclock the G400 to 120%, just to see what that would do to the 3DMark - & it dropped to 3921?!?
    Anyone got any ideas why?

(To be honest I'm not too bothered at the moment, I'm happy enough with my 600MHz celery *grin*)

Run it a few more times and take the average. What res are those results for?

When I've got a bit more time, I'll do some proper benchmarking.

Though I've just had a blast on UT & it kept GPFing on me tho'

Win95 is pretty stable at 600 - and the 3DMark demo runs fine...I'll have a bash at some more stuff later...

I don't now wath resolution that you use but it can be normal that your 3D mark druped. it do's this with my card to. I remark that 3D mark is based only on game 1 and game 2 frame rate. wach for Pixel/sec you gonna see the difference. Just interested. Are you sure it is to 600 i can't even get to 550 the temperature go up to 55 degree ?
My concern is with growth. You must grow to become one, to become whole, to become sane. I am not going to force sanity upon you. Rather, I am going to bring out your insanity. When it is pulled out completely, throw into the wind, sanity will happen to you, you will grow. You will be transformated. That is the meaning of meditation

I got 4608 3DMarks with G400DH/32MB at 800x600x16bpp ... The score you got is even worse than mine at 1152x864x16bpp(4226 3DMarks)...

The FSB in my System is 124 MHz, and AGP is 82 MHz with 2x mode... However, Celeron at 600MHz with 100MHz FSB should get better or at least equal score...

ps: Do you use 3DMark 99 or 3DMark99 Max ?

            Hmmm.

I'll look at it a little more. It is definately running at 600. Sisoft Utils clocked it at 602 & the CPU benchmark beat the PIII reference score!

However, the Mobo doesn't seem to *remember* the settings after a reboot. It's all ok when set to 400, but change the settings & you have to set them on the way in every time.

I'm going to have a good play. Aiming for 4500 3DMarks
