  • Anyone try a 16Meg G400 on K6-3/400?

I'm thinking of going with a G400 Marvel on a K6-3, but I've found no reports on performance with this combo. I'd hate to spend $$$$ on something that won't increase my gaming performance.

I have been very happy with my g400 SH 16Meg card with a few exceptions. Most OpenGL is not up to the speed of my previous card (CL Voodoo Blaster Banshee), but D3D is great.

Here are my some of my 3D Mark 99 results.

why not simply get a G400 MAX with a rainbow runner G series if you want extra performance for games?

Thanks for the reply, Zwisch. I don't know if I would see much of an improvement due to
being CPU limited with the K6-3. There is also the cost difference of about $100 and using up another PCI slot. Unfortunately there aren't many non-Athlon or P3 tests on
the review sites to go by. I might have to take the chance and hope I can return the cards if they don't work too well.

I'm using exactly the same MB and CPU, but with G400 32 MB DH board. Go to my website for more info.

I also find that being able to use teh second as you please if much nicer when using a G400 + RRG combo... ok you have a nice blue box and a free PCI slot but stilll... I wouldn't trade my combo for a marvel...
