  • I can't seem to get DH working on my Vanilla G400.

    Hi all

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I have a problem with my G400 that I hope someone could help with.

I now have two monitors and would like to enable DH on my machine. However my second monitor remains blank at all times.

I have a clean Win98 install with PD5.30 loaded (no other Matrox drivers).

I have enabled DH in the advanced properties, selected "expand desktop to this monitor" and rebooted. The second screen remains blank. I can however move my pointer off the right of my primary screen.

Also when I shut down my machine the second monitor goes into power saving mode. On startup the monitor powers up, just no image.

The second screen worked fine in the primary socket.

I think my system specs may help...
    P3 450 (not OC'd)
    SuperMicro P6SBA MB
    96 MB PC100 Ram
    Matrox G400 32mb DH
    Primary Belinea 103040 17" monitor
    Secondary IBM 14X (9524) 14" monitor

Any help you can give would be gratefuly received.

Try it like this, enable DH multi display, reboot. Click on the second montior icon and slect expand desktop onto this monitor. Click on the advanced button then select the monitor tab and select a monitor.

Also try using Dual head in clone mode to make sure that your setup is ok.

          Ant,

Your suggestions didn't help. I still get a blank screen. I'll try the clone mode tonight.

As you may have guessed, I'm not lucky enough to use a G400 at work.

You do have loaded drivers for that second monitor? And enabled it?
You could always try the local vesa drivers for that second monitor. And tone down on it's resolution/refresh-frequency.
