  • Difference between G400 retail & OEM

Are there any differences between the G400 32Mb retail and the G400 DH 32Mb OEM
    apart from the bundled games?

Also, how overclockable are both of these cards - do they get anywhere near the MAX?

    Thanks,

  • #2
One thing I know is that the retail has the heatsink screwed to the board, while the OEM (like mine) has it glued.

With a retail G400 you could have a chance that you have a Max in your hands, if you have 5ns memory chips and the fan connector on the board.

About OC'ability? I don't think there are many differences between the retail and the OEM.

1st you won't get that fancy packet ...

2nd (important !) I think the VGA-2-TVout cable is not in the OEM version and must be purchased separately ...

Maybe there are more differences I don't know of ... anybody else ?

My G400DH showed up in anti-static bag with driver CD and VGA-to-TV adapter. No "Expendable" game on CD. Sounds like the OEM product but it did include the VGA-to-TV adapter.

It has 6ns RAM, glued on heatsink. It Rocks on my PIII@560.

Anybody else receive an OEM Dual-Head with VGA-to-TV adapter?

all OEM DH cards come with the cable. If you dont get one then you are being ripped off.

My OEM G400 came with driver CD and cable. Who needs a fancy box anyway, and if you need a manual just head over to the matrox website and print out the manual PDF file they have for the G400

Yup Maggi, he must be. No Expandable CD, but only the Tech-demo/drivers CD with my OEM and the VGA-to-TV cable.

Oh, the OEM usually comes in a white box, while the retail comes in the blueish one with print

My oem included all the same too, and yes, I think there's a good chance of getting the 5ns memory with the retail, I kinda wish I went that way, but still very
