  • Which Ultra2 SCSI HD ?

    Hi there :-)

Can anybody tell me which brand and models of SCSI Ultra2 HD are specific for A/V ?
The IBM Ultrastar 9ZX (10.000 rpm) is a good choice or is there any other good drive ?

    Thanks in advance.

These days you don't need SCSI for AV. Most all of the newer ATA66 and ATA33 IDE drives are far faster than is required. FAR faster.

    Save yourself some money.

I second that one Dr. I have Western Digital ATA-66 7200RPM and Promise controller and it is plenty fast with speed to spare.

The maximum rate that you capture with the Marvel G200 was about 3.5MBps. New IDE hard drives can cope with 13MBps with the IBM U2 about 20MBps. Newer IDE and SCSI are even faster, so unless you are doing RGB captures or want to be sure with a capture card which can capture at higher data rates like a DC30 (which can do up to 7MBps), IDE is perfect for the job.
