  • MAXIMUM PC Defends G400 9 Kick Ass Rating

Check out the letter in Commport, Nov '99 issue, page 18, demanding a retraction of the G400's 9 "Kick Ass" rating. The letter was based on the fact that the 5.21 ICD release "SUCKS," and they could only do 60 FPS, no where near the 73 FPS benchmark as posted by MAX PC.

Departments Editor Sean Downey defends the rating, retests with the Quake II timedemo @ 1024x768 and finds he is 0.7 FPS from the original benchmark, and suggests the author do some troubleshooting.

yeah, this guy must have sound, dynamic lights and everything enabled... no wonder he can't get the same fps... and why would he complain for 10 fps as we all know that they all systems are different?

Hey, zwisch... 10 fps is apparently a huge drop/difference to those who worship speed at all costs....

Good for MaxPC, though... it ain't boot, but it's not bad.

Their old transparent demo CD covers used to crack me up. They read boot. Turn them up side down and back to front, they read 'poof'.
