Chatting with JamesA gave the following options, maybe someone will like these??

JamesA: **I think Ant should do some humorous stuff with the status of fori visitor. e.g. "Newbie Poster,"**

Jorden: ***Why not ask him then?? See what we did with the "Tuesday, 12 October 1999" stuff?? And he only made us MURCers because Holly so gently said something like that to Tish Beta 2 in some post... http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/wink.gif
Plus: We're all The Forum Police, we may shoot first, then ask questions http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/wink.gif***

JamesA: **Nah.. 'tis ok. Probably too much work for the guy, and may not yield any laughs. http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/biggrin.gif

It would be nice to see a person with 1000 posts named:

"Old Geezer of the MURC" or something like that. http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/biggrin.gif

1-10 posts == Baby MURC. http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/biggrin.gif

And say, if Ant doesn't like one post, he can DEDUCT the number of posts.
So, then,

-10 to -20 == Tombman Troll
-21 to -30 == TyLau Troll

Nice? http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/smile.gif**

So guys 'n' girls??

Jorden.

James, you are totally right..."MURCaholic" gets my vote for the over 500 crew...Something I really wanted to ask for the other day, but I thought it was silly to say it for no real reason (so thanks for starting this Maggi).. is there some way of designating "Old MURCers made new again" as opposed to real, new "MURCbabies"?

When I want to bite somebody with only 12 posts who says something dumb, I'd like to be sure that it isn't someone who actually lost 50000 posts in the last server crash, y'know? Hurts my dignity (yeah, yeah, I know, I have none.. and your point would be...?? http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/biggrin.gif)

Alright, what's going on here? This place is turning into a funhouse! http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/smile.gif Not that that's a bad thing..

Alright, here are my suggestions, now that I am a MURCer!

associate the new smilies with emoticons so we can use them in the body of our messages: e.g. >=( is the angry face, 8) is the cool sunglass guy, etc.
how about a smiley for a guy giving a raspberry? :P (you could even make the tongue wag http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/wink.gif )
since everyone wants ranks and titles according to number of posts, give them amusing ones, like SuperMURCaloid or The Great MURCin
btw, can we have a smiley face for surprise? Or might that be the little red faced guy? He could have big round eyes indicative of his alarm. http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/smile.gif
I liked rags' idea for the finger. Could we also have a mooning symbol? (_|_) might work. http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hecubus.... for my part, I think you deserve to be seeing your nick in GOLD sometime soon! If I could do it, I would...

I'm liking Jake for 1st prize and Maggi for runner up, but I'm not the judge...! http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/wink.gif

People.... we seem to have had a misunderstanding... I didn't read Jord's setup clearly enough.

I was thinking the rankings were
Grand Prize... your nick in gold
1st prize... your nick in bold
Runner-up (2nd prize).. free nick

I did say Hecubus should have his/her name in Gold, because 'Dragnet' was the right answer.

I then gave my votes for the 2 next-best answers (leaning on my 'in' with the judge)... Jake for 1st prize and Maggi for runner up (as if Maggi needs a free nick...ah, well). But I had to note that I'm not the judge, it's Jord's little contest, and ultimately it's his decision where to give the 1st and runner up (or as he would put it, 2nd and 3rd place) prizes.... assuming he can get the help of Ant in the 1st place...

But Hecubus still wins, having given the correct answer (stop hitting yourself in the eye already!)... sorry to 'downsize' you, Maggi.. http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/frown.gif

There's 14 possible ways to dum that song... http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/wink.gif

Btw, if it were Dragnet, would I be so stupid to add **Good thing it's Friday** to it?? (Should be Thank God, it's Friday, though http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/smile.gif)

Jorden, no judge either.

I don't understand!?!?!?! On my screen all nicknames/usernames are in BOLD

Should it be "extra" bolded? double-bold?

Ignorant Dane,

Jake

OK Jorden, you realize that having stated that there are 14 ways to "Dum" that song you are required to eventually tell us what they are?
No rush, but if I have to walk around with "dum da DUM dum", etc. in my head playing over and over and over... :0

Jorden
14th October 1999, 09:58
It wasn't dum da DUM dummm

it was: dum da DUM dum.. dum da dum dum DUMMMMMM...

.... sigh...

Jord.

Just to close this off with an on-topic post... does anyone but me have kind of a hard time choosing a message icon for their reply?

'Question' and 'warning' and 'idea' and 'I'm d*mn cheesed off' are pretty easy, as are 'thumbs up/down'... and of course we all know what to do with the winkie...but what's with the clown and the pink face and that arrow?? And just when is it appropriate to use the 'I'm pretty doggone cool' icon??

Do I think too much??
