  • Green border on Mpeg compression

    Hi

When I use Lsx to compress an AVI video file to MPEG1, I get a green border on the left of screen. The AVI itself is good !

I use Matrox Marvel G400 TV in a PAL-25 fps-352x288 project of Premiere 5.1 and the preview are good also ??

If anyone know to do ...

    In advance, thanks

I've had the same trouble with my Marvel G200. Only does it occasionally. Very strange.

Double-check that you have the output rez set to 352x240(NTSC) or 352x288(PAL). Very often MPEG encoders default to 320x200. This will leave green showing where the frame is empty.

        Thank's Dr. Mordrid

I triple checked my settings but I use the Premiere 5 settings given by Matrox on the card installation CD , so my setting is OK :

Preset : Matrox MJPEG Quarter 25fps PAL ( I live in Paris - France )

        Matrox MJPEG
        352 x 288 , 25 fps
        ...etc...

The worse is to come :

I found that when, in Premiere, if I do :

Files (menu)--> Export --> Video export (ie to record on a tape ) ...I get the green border, in zoom x2 mode, in full screen mode and in normal mode. The green border com BEFORE mpeg encoding !!

May be the problem com from my standart SECAM ???

        I'm still searching !!

Thank's for your advices and excuse my poor English...

          To Dr. Mordrid

I forgot some important precisions :

1 - I uses PC-VCR to capture videos with the settings to SECAM
2 - In Premiere 5 , in the monitor windows, if you click an select on left screen (source) --> you can see green border on right screen (project) and 'vice et versa'

              I just found a reason :

When I capture a VHS tape (SECAM), iget the problem.

When I capture a Hi8 camcorder tape (PAL), everuthing is OK.

The only solution I found in Premiere is to use the 'crop' video filter.

              Thank's all
