  • 5.30 or 5.25+Beta ICD?

Ok... All you guys without P3's and K7's out there, I have a question. Which combo do you use? 5.30? 5.25+Beta ICD? or maybe even 5.30+beta ICD?

Oh yeah, I have a celeron 366@550. It's usually running at about 98-100 degrees F while not running anything intensive. If i play quake a long time (or even starcraft) the temp will go all the way up to 125. Is this too hot? I mean it still runs and doesn't crash. Is it safe to run it this hot for such a long time?

    Thanks guys!

The 5.30 drivers aren't limited only to people with P3s and Athlons based systems. The only difference is that you can't use the miniGL as of yet. However, the ICD that comes with the 5.30 drivers have also been improved, so you are probably better off going with the 5.30 drivers + the 5.30 ICD.

Yeah... but i don't play any of those other games that matrox made improvements in. Only q3... and the beta ICD compared to the 5.30 ICd is still faster. and i haven't found any visual improvements...

anybody notice that every version after 5.13 renders really badly w/ 16-bit textures? bullet fire marks when they hit the wall is a bit green so are all other marks (eg. fire the plasma gun at one place and u can see it's green all around)

And the 16-bit dithering should be fixed to be more smooth. It's very ugly now.

UT got a MAJOR boost in rendering speed when you have high world detail enabled, and that has nothing to do with the TurboGL (TurboGL crashes UT at the moment...)

tumu - the 5.13 icd never had the problem befor though. The problem was introduced after the 5.13 drivers that came with my card. Anybody else notice this?

If you aren't having any prob's with the beta ICD, use it! It's faster for P2/Celeron users...Currently I use 5.30 + beta ICD
