  • PD5.30 + G200 = BSOD?!

Well, the title pretty much says it all. I installed the new 5.30 drivers for my G200, after using the uninstaller and checking for anything leftover. Windows boots fine, but when I try to run anything that uses D3D or OpenGL, I get a bsod windows protection fault and have to do a hard boot to reset. I saw someone else had this problem also, and tried reinstalling DX7, but it didn't help. I've done the uninstall the same way for the last sever driver revs and those worked, but this one doesn't for and 3d acceleration stuff. Luckily, I was able to revert back to 5.25 and it works fine as always.
Any ideas, or should I just wait for the next driver rev?

other random stuff that doesn't really matter

I had the exact same problems, with Epox MVP3 mainboard and K6-2 proc. I'll think I'll just wait with my planned re-install of windows as it looks like more a problem with the 5.30 drivers than with windows..

Grr.. Is there any way I can sign up as beta-tester for MGA producs? I think I would qualify perfectly for the job..

Lalalala, a 1.5 year-old-card and still no good-working OpenGL drivers

I get the exact same result. (Tried running Q3Test 1.08). Maybe I should update my G200 bios. Has anyone got these working for the G200? Do these drivers fix the green polygonal explosions of Q3test(1.08)?

I don't think updating the g200 bios makes a differance, since I'm already at the newest one. You should update it anyway since it fixes some compatibility issues and stuff.
About Q3, try using the lightmap setting instead of vertex. It doesn't make the strange pllygonal explosions then. That is assuming you are using vertex. If its on lightmap, then I don't know, since I don't have that problem.

I reinstalled windows, it didn't help. I'll be removing 5.3 and reinstall 5.25 which worked fine.

So far it seems to be a problem with ss7 boards.
These are the 1st major problems I've had with g200 8meg vram and via mvp3.2d works fine, but 3d=bsod.
Switched back to 5.25 and last update for via mvp3=okay
Hopefully matrox and the people here can come up with a solution!
