  • Need help (not a problem with g400 :))

    OK, friend asked me for help, he wants a computer, and willing to spend about $2500, basically for gaming, he never had computer before, so i don't want any computer from any small compaties with no software, and there will be no overclocking, what is the max config u can get for this price (w 17' monitor)
    from companies like Dell, Ibm, COmpaq, etc, and i want a G400 reg/max inside, dvd, zip (100mb)

        I can't imagine why someone would want to spend that much money on a crappy name brand computer. Not only can you get a bad ass computer for way less money, but you can also get a 21" to go with it. Do yourself a favor and go tell your friend to do a little research and have him build a somewhat do-it-yourselfer with your guidance. Otherwise, I guess Dell, Gateway, CompUSA, etc... will be your best bet. All of these companies have websites that will help you build a computer.

          I'm a big fan of do-it-yourself PC's, but in this case I think it's not the best idea. Sometimes I recommend to others that they buy something pre-built -- there's a time to relieve yourself of the responsibility, and get that friend something with a warranty.
          Unfortunately, I can't point you towards any brands. If you have the time, there's plenty of mid-size places out there that do custom-builds @ really decent prices, and send the computer out w/ software installed and a nice warranty behind it. Otherwise, I actually like Gateways.
