  • What functionality would I lose under NT 4.0 if I used RR G on G400?

I have my Marvel G200 in my spare system, but it is a pain to capture, then swap drives and edit on my G400 system.

If I bought the RR-G, what Dualhead features would I lose under NT 4.0? I am currently using the second output for spanning my desktop to another monitor for 2048x768 total size.

Also, is the RR-G another PCI card, or addon module. Matrox's site is not completely clear about that. If it is a PCI card, does it need an IRQ?

    thanks as always...

I can't answer your NT questions with any authority. But I can help with the Rainbow Runner.

The Rainbow Runner G-Series is a separate PCI board. It connects to the G200 or G400 internally with two flat cables and to your soundcard with a small external cable. It does not require an IRQ, so you can (and should) stick it in the PCI slot next to the AGP slot.

      Oh! I forgot!

Those multi-pin connectors at the top of your G400 are for the Rainbow Runner.

Well, considering the fact that the G400/RRG combo is not yet officially supported under NT by Matrox, I would say that you wouldn't lose any dual-head functionality at all, but you couldn't use your RRG at all with a G400...

MATROX, SOME OF US HAVE HAD A MAX/RRG SINCE JULY AND HAVE BEEN WANTING TO USE THEM UNDER NT!!!
