    And, 300MHz DAC.

    Basically, a G400 16MB DH with TV-out.

Matrox is having as hard as a time as it is providing the MAX and I am pretty sure the next runner up, 32MB DH OEM, is also not in overflowing abundance either.

So, they chose to make a card that utilized the components that they had in abundance.

But, I think the TV out dealie is dumb. Why not just get the 32MB DH OEM and a Rainbow Runner G card and get the same thing but better?

Just like what you said. Matrox doesn't need to have a Marvel G400MAX with 32 MB RAM ... You can buy a Millennium G400Max + RR-G to have the best performance and functions...

I think Marvel G400's opponent is ATI All-in-Wonder 128, so they have to control its price. Even though it has better performance & quality than AIW 128.

Do you think how many video-edit users want to spend more than $50~100 to have extra memory and it is only useful for high resolution 3D games?

The low production of the MAX's is NEC's fault. Matrox does not make the the chips, NEC does. So don't point the fingers at matrox for not pumping the cards out fast enough.
