heh. i tried dx7 and all my directx games stopped working (pretty much all the games i have). since dx7 can't be uninstalled, i had to reformat and reinstall. well, ill just wait for M$ to release DX7.

Since I'll be installing a new mobo and reformating on Monday I decided to give DX7 a try.
I have problems with this version too. 3DMark will run the first race and then reboot my system if it doesn't lock it up first. Same with Final Reality, it locks up, exits to the desktop or reboots my system.
It's a good thing I plan on reformating my Hard Drive Monday. I'll wait for an official MicroShaft release of DX7 before I try again.

It is interesting how numerous other people indicate that they have had an apparent speed increase especially in Unreal directx.
I am just curious if their system is ok with the release they have downloaded and a hinderence to others' systems.
I also remember when DX6 was coming out that there were dozens of sites that advertised the 'final release' before microsoft had it out the door and on their web site.

Well, I will be reformatting my drive next week soooo, I have tried the link above.
Hmmm, I seem to fall in the catagory of those that experienced a speed increse in Unreal. I have not tried anything else except 3D Mark99 and there was little or no difference there. Strange.
Anyway, just a quick list of fps increases,

Thats just using the unreal flyby sequence. I will look for any benefit in other applications.
