  • G400 + P5a + Win2K

    ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Well here is the pb, Win2k (build 2031) boots up without a glitch... but trying ton install my g400 and kewl !! a pretty black screen.... tried to boot in vga mode and it tells me my g400 shares the irq9 with my scsi controller and my 3com ethernet card... but my BIOS reports that my g400 is on irq 11, my netcard is on 9 and my scsi controller on 10 !.... so is there a way to force win2k to use a specific irq for a specific hardware... antoher lame thing mysteriously my two com port are not available (win2k reports that they are ok but mouse does not appear) nor my modem...

btw i am gonna install ali agp driver, make bios update.. etc etc...

    Ken

Have yet my Athlon 600 waiting for a mobo (sob sob sob.....)

Maybe you can try running Win98 instead? There are no current drivers available for the Win200 yet.

If you are using the Win95/98 drivers, that explains the BSOD...You should try using the WinNT drivers instead. My P5A is running nicely together with OEM G400 at AGP2X and 112Mhz on Win98.

upgrading my mobo bios to 1007a fixed the com1, com2 problem.... tried to change manually all the irqs by pnp bios it worked partially... when booting i got my screen in 16b depth colors but just after the screen get garbled (like the very old time with my first g200) btw i am upgrading ton an athlon i will test my system on this soon

The com port problem is build 2031 related. leech down a later build (like 2114 )

Use the NT4.0 4.12 drivers (allocated on the g400 cd-rom).

Rip out what's got the same irq as the G400, mine report it uses irq 10...

well tried that funky win2k with a celery a g400 and an msi 6163 and it rocks ....

i think my problem with the p5a is more a driver related problem (and because i only have an earlier beta.....)

            btw i just don't care... huhu ))))))))
my athlon is already in my hands but i am going quiet crazy because i will get my mobo next week...

(for those who find my english to be quiet ugly, this is because i am french and that i don't care enough about grammar, etc etc)
