  • BEST Settings? (for G400 memory timings & overclocking)

    I have used MGATweak v1.12 for overclocking and got to MAX settings with no problem...is it possible to go higher? What are highest reached settings?
    And second point: SGRAM settings. I used a parameters from pdf file...are there some better settings?

    thanx

    and one more thing - is any danger in changing of dividers between core/memory? for example 166/200 instead of 150/200 ??

      Hi !

      Actualy I(Darko Vojinovic) find out these MEM settings & I could not find any faster & stable enugh for G400...but you can try other settings just be careful & dont start with CAS LATENCY ,in that PDF u can read procedure of tweaking SGRAM.

      I was be able to find out other and even faster settings but I get graph.corruptions ..so it doesent count

      good luck !

      if u find other FASTER SGRAM opti. please report..!

        about DEVIDERS... I tryed ewerything but didnt like the result...the best settings I find out was :

        PLL = 297

        Gclk =148,50
        Mclk =198
        Wclk =148,50

        SGRAM optimization :

        3,1,3,8,3,1,FAST,1,1,1,1.4,1,4

        MISC all ENABLED

        with these settings I got bench like G400MAX & no problems with graph.corruptions or crashes

        for exemp.

        stanbdard G400SH not OC/Vsync ON
        1024x768x32 16bit zbf

        3Dmark99 MARK pro overall=4103

        O/C with settings above Vsync ON =4526

        ofcourse Pd 5.21 and latest bios for G400 & MBO DX6.2, WIN98SE

          Thanks for the information guys- especially you Borg. I've got a Max, and so far, with either PowerStrip GX or with the MGATweak 1.2b, can only get to 162/214(?not sure about the mem speed)/162Warp with no image distortion noticed anywhere. I'll look at it again tonight and see if using some of the settings (memory tweaks) you're using for your card allow me to get any higher. If not, I'll prolly return the clock to normal settings, since Q3 only benches .8 FPS faster at 175 core than at the standard 150.

          BTW- Good for you both! Getting the non-Max up to Max speeds fits right in with my o/c ethic- why pay more if you can get the same performance for less?

              Sooo after spending a day with benchmarking I have some results:

              My vanilla g400 32M DH was clocked 126/168... so using MGATweak (COOOL SOFT) and old 486 fan I was able to go up to 154/206... BUT in 3DMARK I experienced some artefakts... sooo tweaking SGRAM (thanks to BORG) - better, but still not "top notch"....ok... I changed system clock to 401, dividers to 2.5/2/2.5 - it mens 160/200 (SGRAM optimized) and?... perfect picture with results bit higher then 154/206

                  El_bruto,

                  When you want to try for higher system PLL clock speed, >>310MHz, make sure you have "Auto Duty Cycle Correction" unchecked. That will allow you to use the default dividers (2.0/1.5/2.0) while going for over 400MHz for certain G400 MAX.

                  Make sure you're using the latest MGATweak 1.12.

                    Hey Liew,
                    I use 3 1 2 4 2 1 Fast 1 1 1 0 0 SGRAM optimization at Fo 190.59 95.29 127.06 95.29 with my G200.
                    I get (only) 1510 3DMark 6318 CPU with this setting, compared to 1385/6286 at default setting. The low mark is probably due to the fact that I can't enable bus-mastering.

                      Jesus H Christ, why do people add so much detail? I pretty much lost interest after that last one. A virtual rectal exam - LOL.

                        kjliew: why is the duty cycle so important? I ask because my vanilla G400 is working ok with auto duty cycle on/off with pll=401 (2.5/2/2.5=160/200/160) - and the results in benchmarks are pretty the same...(duty on/off)

                          It's important because when using the standard divisors (2/1.5/2), the MAX cannot be overclocked by much when ADCC is enabled.

                            There could be some libraries missing. I have to read them again to make sure..

                              so if I am not operating at default settings (2.5/2/2.5 instead of 2/1.5/2) is there any sense for manipulating the duty cycle? (no difference in banchmarking however...)
