  • G400 SH 32 meg hangs

    Greetings all,

I've got an oem g400 SH 32 meg, on a tyan 1598s motherboard 2 meg cache (super socket 7), k6-3 450, wicked 3d voodoo2 card, 128 meg micron ram, vortex 2 sound card, 3com ethernet card, ibm 9 gig ultra 66.

no shared irq's during POST or under win98 SE device manager.

The system will hang during the demo after one fly through, and changing color depth.

The system hangs playing Everquest on the g400 (d3d). It doesnt hang using the voodoo2 for the display. If I replace the g400 with my old ati rage fury eveything is fine.

    any ideas

    thnx,

    bryan white

ps. didn't matter which version of powerdesk i used.

pss. didn't matter what version of the via chipset drivers used either.

ppss. sent this to matrox tech support also.

    Hi there,

I do not know what your Mobo bios offers, but mine has an option for 'VGA boot sequence' ...

I changed it from 'PCI/AGP' to 'AGP/PCI' for taking my AGP card as the primary display adapter.

    Maybe it helps.

        nope didn't have that option.

Looking at other messages, I don't have any irq sharing other than the vortex 2 sound card sharing irqs with its self.

the g400 exhbits the same results before or after the ati was installed, so it doesn't seem to be registery or uniststall problems.

        any other ideas anyone?
