Hi gurus out there. I have one of those Maxes dressed down to a Vanilla G400 (with the 5 ns memory chips etc.). Has anyone tried to really make a MAX out of this? I know you can tweak the clock frequencies, but the RAMDAC stays the same. I would think that the RAMDAC actually on board would be the MAX quality thingie.
I suppose the RAMDAC timings are clued in the BIOS, so it would be possible to make a real max by forcing a MAX BIOS onto the board.
Or then again, I may be completely mistaken here, and the BIOSes could be exactly the same and there is a hidden configuration option somewhere secret.
But, please, has anyone succeeded in flashing a MAX BIOS to a Vanilla, provided they are different...
