  • ICD NOT screwed up!

Hmmmm, I heard from an unquotable source that the ICD is _not_ screwed up- the benchmark decrease is indeed from vsync being turned on.

Unfortunately, the source also says there's no way to turn it off in 5.21 (the registry change posted yesterday isn't correct.) He insinuated (but wouldn't flat out say) that there will be a new version that will allow for it to be turned off.

    No ETA given.

ZZZzzzssst WRONG! There is a way to turn off vsync in the registry. see:

Hmm I'm a little dubious about that I have my refresh rate set at 120Hz in 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768 so even if Vsync were enabled I shouldn't see a drop from around 87fps to 66fps at 640x480 should I?

Isn't it possible that having vsinc turned ON could cause your video card to run at the closest even fraction of your refresh rate? I think I've read that somewhere. Perhaps your card was attempting to run at 60HZ instead of 120.

        Take a look at this.
        http://www.tomshardware.com/releases...07/index2.html

It talks about how vsync affects performance.

The "source" didn't let on right away that there is indeed a registry setting to turn off vsync.

              See:
