  • G400 on IRQ 5 - problem?

    G400 32Mb OEM - ABIT BE6 - 256 Megs

Is having my Matrox on IRQ 5 a problem. (only shared with IRQ Steering). Ive always associated 5 with 8 bit ISA cards, not AGP. Is this a problem, and if so, how is it fixed.

Is it working? Is it working correctly? If so, leave it!
Again, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

If you are experiencing problems, the easiest way is probably tell your BIOS that IRQ 5 is reserved for a legacy ISA device.

While this won't cause problems in most cases, it may degrade performance. IRQ 5 is pretty much reserved for LPT2 or ISA sound.

To fix it, just manually assign an IRQ to your AGP slot (IRQA or PCIA or AGPA or whatever in your BIOS) or mark IRQ5 as reserved for ISA.

Why isn't your sound card on IRQ5, anyway?

IRQ 5 no longer - its on 9 now and I can actually play Q3 1.08 now - with AGP 2x too.

Too bad BZ2 demo is still hanging. ...
