G400 dualhead multidisplay annoyance

My G400 (with 5ns memory, I guess I'm lucky) is working just fine, at least after a complete win98 re-installation. I recommend doing format c: to get most of this card...

Well anyway, I have two monitors, primary display Nokia 447Xavc and secondary Nokia 447B. I really would like to use the dualhead Multidisplay to extend the desktop, but when I enable it, I get an annoying interference on my primary display. It's like a horizontal line separating a darker and a lighter part of the screen going down the screen every couple of seconds. Basically looks like a bad monitor. In single mode, both monitors work fine. Does this sound like a software or a hardware problem? Is anybody getting a perfect multidisplay on their monitors?

This is annoying indeed: imagine a 4 pixels wide scanline going slowly down the screen all the time, ruining an otherwise perfect display.

Any suggestions or experiences?

i was running multi display with no problems on my system. ctx 19" monitoe and a mag 17" monitors.

it worked well to but open gl games failed to work with it and i ran into some minor anoyances with othet d3d games with it turnewd on. so for gameing i turn it off and when i do real work i tun it on. its nice but i thing the drivers still need some more work.

It's most likely a case of bad shielding from the monitors itself ...

Try to separate them as far as possible or try to put some kind of shield in between the two, to avoid the magnetic fields disturbing each other and see if the problem persists.

Yup, definitely sounds like magnetic interference. Happens all the time at LAN parties, when you have 5 monitors on the dining room table

ok - try some sheet steel (or fine-mesh steel screening - harder to source) between the monitors. The idea is to block the signal from the yoke area of the CRT (back 1/3 of monitor). Stand it vertically between the two monitors. It should be almost as tall as the monitors, and at least half as deep.
