  • Problems encoding MJPEG to ASF

Do anyone have problems encoding MJPEG to ASF? My ASFs are jerky during playback. I use the latest Windows Media Tools, Windows On-Demand Producer & Media Player (4.0, 4.0 & 6.4), but this doesn't seem to help. I've tried to re-install the drivers and even my OS' (NT4 & W98SE), but with no luck. I'm desperate (my hard drives are full of MJPEG....).

It's also worth to mention that I encoded about 10 hours of ASF earlier this summer, without any problems. But I think that was with the beta codecs/drivers of Windows Media Tools...

    Anyone that can help?

This is my Custom template setting:

    - 1 Mbps Data rate

    - MS-MPEG4 V3 (also tried V1 & V2)
    + CIF (352x288)
    + 25 fps
    + Second/IFrame: tried 0. 3, 8 & 25
    + Pixel format: default
    + Delay buffer: tried 1, 3, 6 & 10(!)
    + Image quality: tried 20, 30 & 60

    - Windows Media Audio V2
    + 96 kbps, 44 kHz, Stereo

.. I also tried to encode in 320x240 with similar results

Hardware config: abit bp6, 2xceleron366@550, 256 MB RAM,
    G200+RRG, Voodoo2, Adaptec 2910 SCSI, UltraPlexMax,
    Yamaha 4/4/16, 2xIBM 22 GB ATA66 hard drives.

    W98SE: PowerDesk v5.30, Video Tools v1.51
    NT4: PowerDesk v4.07, Video Tools v1.23 beta2

    Oops.

I forgot to tell that I think it's the audio codec that makes the ASF jerky. When I encode the audio as MPEG1-Layer3 (MP3), the ASF is not jerky. But when using MP3 (or some other audio codec) as audio codec, there is the famous sync problem in clips longer than 2-3 minutes.

    Please help.
