  • Sync On Green

Okay kids. This comes of even more importance with a dual-head card.

*Sync on green (SGI, Sun) monitors are CHEAP and BIG*

Now I've heard reports that Matrox cards can do SOG, but does ANYONE know how to force this? I don't have my G400 yet but I've got this nice 19' Sun monitor I'd like to use along with my current one. 13W3 adaptor -> DB15 doesn't work with my G200.

    Enlighten me?

    *phizz.

BIOSPROG. Looks nice. But I have a feeling it's either going to be VGA -or- SOG, not both :\ Too bad, would be nice to have DH 19's on a G400.

Maybe a standard VGA with HSYNC and VSYNC will 'tolerate' Sync on Green?

If i figure this out, i'll let people know.
See, you can get 13W3 20-inch color Sun Trinitron SOG monitors for like $230.

Yeah, I see that but I kind of doubt there'll be anything on getting one head of the G400 to do SOG and the other to do VGA.

So maybe someone out there knows how to convert a SOG monitor to vga compatible?

This coming week, I should be able to try out my PC Sync Adapter (http://www.griffintechnology.com/video.html) with my G400, Eizo multisync, and an old SGI (Hitachi) monitor. Except I'll be running NT 4.0, which doesn't let each monitor run at different frequencies. But I should be able to tell you if the $30 adapter will work. I just moved, though, so it might be hard to find which box the adapter is in...

You used to be able to get older MGAs to do sync-on-green by setting the "H_SYNC_POL" value to 32 in the "mga.mon" file. The hardware register bits for enabling sync-on-green are still there in the G200 and G400, and you can activate this in real-time using the PowerStrip under 9x or NT, or by setting the MGA "-gsync" value in your XF86_Config setup.

Well heh. I'll order one of those adaptors anyways. If it doesn't work well then um. eBay.
