  • Got Matrox G400 16 megs Dual Head today!

    Hi guys!

Well, I couldn't resist but to get the G400 16megs Dual Head.

I will use it for a while until I get my G400 Max. I will sell this card after I get my Max.

In any case, can someone tell me what is the latest driver version? I download ver 5.13. Is this the latest?

I also downloaded the latest bios. I installed it from Dos prompt and typed unibios and then it asked me to creat an emergency disk and it updated the bios automatically. Is this right? Does it detect the right bios for my G400 16megs Dual Head?

I also did some benchmarking with 3DMark 99.
I must say that the scores are pretty impressive.

    I have a pentium III 450.

    Pentium III 450 (default speed)
    4643 3DMarks
    7221 CPU Marks

    Pentium III 450 @ 558Mhz
    5507 3DMarks
    8720 CPU Marks

    Hi!

I had some problems with the G400 card today.

I just wanted to see if anyone can help me.

    1) My monitor was not detect as a Plug and Play monitor but a "Default Monitor".
Why? I have a 17" Generic Montitor with uses the Mitshibushi Diamondtron Tube and it is plug and play.

    2) My highest refresh rate is only 85Mhz but I could go higher with my previous card.

    3) Tech Demo screens were very corrupt. It was horrible. Why? I ran expendable and it was fine but the Tech Demo was not running well. I could even read the menu.

I am not overclocking the G400 because I don't want to remove the heatsink as I will be selling this card as soon as I get the Max.

My system is running at 124 FSB speed. Is this the problem?

      hi,

Try to put back the AGP speed at 66 MHz to see if it will act better... You never know when you are overclocking...

As for your monitor, it is windwos that detects it like that... Why don't you simply select your monitor inthe Matrox Monitor list and then change your refresh rate yourself?

      Ciao

      Ben

Manjo, to get higher refresh rates than 85Hz you need to enable Advanced Options.
