  • Faulty PINS in bios G400 how to FIX ????

After mij last post on the weard behavior
off the G400-bios i have now noticed that
when i cold boot the computer it is'nt
    displaying the G400 bios notice.

With MXINFO i get the following error in the
    PINS :

Option @4b7d value 44 Signon message display dissabled.

Please how to "fix" this ??????

I can unload the PINS to a text file
which i can edit in hex values.

What is to change from 4b7d ???????

How to store the changed text file back
in the G400 bios PINS ????????
The Regnr in the PINS is stil ok.

That is the correct setting for that pin. Nothing to fret about there.

And MXinfo doesn't dump the pins on the G400. If you try, you will see an empty file (or at least that's what I get). Pins dump works on the G200 though...

      Hi Kruzin

I do get the text files 1 containing the bios
2 containing the PINS with PROGBIOS

Comes from the same site as MXINFO.

If you start PROGBIOS without parms
it wil unload the bios to the 2 files
and than asks you if you wat to load the bios
as i think from the text files.

Yes, you can dump the bios with Progbios. That's Matrox's own flash utility.
I said that MXInfo won't dump the pins

Either way, that particular bios setting is not in error, and does not need to be changed

          Kruzin Ok thats clear.

Now i am still stuck with a bios wich
don't gives the 2 lines info when the computer is cold-booted.

So somewhere in the bios there must be a
          fault.

Question is are there more faults in the bios ??

I only used PSTRIP once by accident.
Right after i put the Matrox G400 in.
          It was still in startup.

My second machine (also G400) works normal.

OK...one more time...this is not a "fault" in the BIOS.

Where in MXinfo does it say this is an error? It does tell you it's disabled, but there is no error message involved.
Just one line that tells you it's off.

My understanding is that option is supposed to be disabled, due to compatability issues with some mobo BIOSs. It was the same way on the G200s. The option has been disabled on both my G200 and G400 since the day I got them, long before I tried Powerstrip. If you have another G400 which shows that option enabled, and shows a bootup message before POST, it is the first I have heard of. Are the cards running the same BIOS version, and are they the same model G400?

As long as G4set is reporting the correct dividers and clock speeds, your BIOS should be fine. When PS eats them, the dividers get all whacked out.
