  • help on PD5.13 uninstaller

I want to use the PD5.13 uninstaller to uninstall PD 4.51. I have downloaded the unstaller and unzipped it.

Do I run the uninstal.exe in windows OR under the the Safe Mode Command Prompt only mode?

Also, is this the proper sequence of steps?

    *unzip drivers
    *run uninstall (using Dos??)
    *reboot
    *change to vga
*run install setup pd5.13 (in windows?)

    thanks Grant

    It's easier than that.

    Unzip the drivers
    run the uninstaller
it will ask to reboot. when it does, you will be in VGA mode
    run the drivers setup
reboot and yer good to go...

      Hi Kruzin

Thanks for your help! I am back up and running under bios 2.3 and PD 5.13

I did have some trouble installing PD 5.13, however.

I unziped both the drivers (Install & uninstall)and Ran the uninstaller from windows.

      Rebooted into VGA mode.

      Ran the 5.13 drivers setup
(this executed quite differently than previous Matrox Setups. It went much, much faster. took about one second and did not show any "install progess screens". I thought that was very odd)

      Rebooted.
Canceled out of the Windows auto detect install wizard.

The system then finished booting and then "hung" and would accept no input.

Soooo, I did a forced reboot and ran the windows install wizard and everthing now works fine.

In my experience, Matrox has never used the Windows driver install wizard before, so I assumed that it would not use it in with PD 5.13.

      Am I stupido or what???

      Thanks

      Grant

When you booted into VGA mode, were you asked to restart again? You should do - 3 reboots in all:
        1) after running uninstall
        2) after installing standard PCI VGA adapter
        3) after installing PD5.13

        Cheers,

        steve

          Hi Steve

I was asked to reboot as follows:

Once, after I did the uninstall
Then it came up already in VGA automatically
I did NOT have to select the VGA setting (see note from Kruzin)

Again, after I ran PD 5.13 Setup

And Again, after I ran the windows Driver Install wizard. (I selected 'have disk' and browsed to the unzipped driver folder)

          I guess that IS three.

Where I messed up was thinking that the Matrox SETUP would do the complete install as it did with previous releases.
Now, apparently, Matrox uses a plain vanilla windows install.

Question, If the Matrox PD 5.13 SETUP does NOT do the Install, what does it do? Apparently not much, given how quickly it executes.

I checked all of the settings and it says I have 5.13 installed. It even remembered my screen resolutions setting.

          Thanks

          Grant

this is a postscript on my install of PD 5.13

After the install as described above, I was having many, many system freezes.
            complete lock ups
Ctl Alt Delete would not even work.

Turns out that I had two different video card drivers installed:
            the G200 PD 5.13 AND
my old STB velocity 128 zx driver.

Who knows how long that was there??

            Anyway I deleted both drivers.
Rebooted and Windows reinstalled PD 5.13 automatically.

I think that all is well now.

            Weird!!??
