    Wow, talk about incompotent reviews

Of course, the guy mainly focused on Q2 scores (yet another one of them), and it was obvious to me that he did something wrong. Those scores where off, even for the drivers that came with the card (of course he didn't bother to mention what drivers he used).

Then there's the fact that he couldn't get it to run at 1280x1024. Obviously something was not right. The card does 1280x1024 full screen just fine.

And his comments about D3D speeds! This guy has no clue. Every other review out there show the card smokin in D3D at higher resolutions. Makes me wonder what he was smokin I seriously suspect he did something wrong in setting the card up, to get the results he did.

      Heya, Kruzin

      Still awake ?

Yep, that guy is not that 'well armed' ...

      but Q2 doesn't offer 1280x1024, only 1280x960 and that one isn't supported (yet ?)

What instantly caught my eye was that he's using almost the same system that I have and his scores are soooo looow compared to the ones I posted in the other thread, that he must have done something basically wrong ...

Did you find a note on the used drivers ?

Duh "Beautiful graphics up to 1024x768" yeah, right, how come I get up to 2058x1536 then?
And "Dualhead allows multimon etc" um, I think. Don't understand what a dualhead is, but it's probably cool.
"Cool driver setup" Now talk about descriptive!! Just like "mapping is tres cool". Hmmm, I'm 5 years old and don't know what I'm doing, but I have to sound 'kewl' anyway.

got my regular g400 yesterday. poped my v3 2000 out and droped the 400 in driver install was flawless. dvd player worked great. wingcomander 4 dvd played fine. even dual head was a snap to set up. the ONLY issue i have is alien vs preditor dosn't work with it but that is a game support issue. hell my desk top even looks better than it did before vith v 3 2000 agp.

          ------------------
its here now only if avp worked. but hey mech 3 looks great.

Just checked out gamersdepot for that review, and I was so moved by the unique insight and fresh approach that I just had to post a suggestion:

Maybe it's time somebody reviewed the reviewers?

Some poor soul somewhere is going to read that crud and take it as gospel. Scary.

What versions of the drivers did you use and what was your hardware/software configuration? Without the answers to these questions posted as part of the introduction to your review, it is meaningless. Given the figures posted by other reviewers and by those people that actually have the G400 32MB Dual Head it would appear that there are some serious problems either with your setup/configuration or your testing methodology.

This guy is a real joke. I read his Silent Serpent review, and he was saying how his computer was more quiet! Hilarious! I was thinking maybe the fan on his PS blew or something. If it is still there, read the review for a good laugh.

                      Yer right Maggi:

                      "but Q2 doesn't offer 1280x1024, only 1280x960 and that one isn't supported (yet ?)"

It is 1280x960. And it works great here...just that it's in a window. Oh well, Q2 plays perfectly smooth for me at 1600x1200x32, so who needs that lowly 1280 res anyway

The quote below is Heinrich's response to my e-mail shown in the post above.

"They may have the Max. We have just the regular G400."

I would say the response is probably indicative of the quality of his reviews.

                            ehm...

I have almost the same config of the reviewer
(P2 450 instead of the Celeron 300 @ 450) and with my G400 non max 16 MB SH, 5.13 drivers installed from scratch I can't go past 56 fps in 1024x768x16 with vsync disabled (Q2 of course).

So, Maggi and Kruzin, can you explain me how to boost them if you think they're too low for this config?
I'll really appreciate any infos to get extra power from this cool card

                            Thanks,

Kruzin... you are saying that playing Q2 at 1600x1200x32-bit is "smooth and playable for ya" ? ? You must have a like a Dual PIII-600 or something. Because I swear that the OGL on the G400's are the weakest out of all the cards.

If I'm not mistaken I the Ultra TNT2's aren't really playable at 1600x1200x32-bit.

It sounds like you must have a high tolerence for low levels of frame rate. because it can't be higher than 24fps at 32-bit at that resolution.. No Way!!
