MJPEG to MPEG2

Hi

Does anybody know of any software that will convert MJPEG video to MPEG2 (apart from the demo version bundled with thge G400)?

Isn't it time Matrox did something useful and released something for the G200 i.e. support its existing user base?

You can get BBMPEG from the below link, it allows to use export from the Premiere 5 timeline or use the AVI2MPG2 program to convert into a VOB. The output is of a good quality although a little slow but it is free. It's bitrate is Fixed rate. http://members.home.net/beyeler/bbmpeg.html

You can get a demo of Ligos encoder from http://www.ligos.com/
It is limited to a 30 second clip but it is fast (compared to BBMPEG) supports Constant and Variable bitrates although I have had some problem with the audio sync.

Another option involves installing Avid Cinema (yech!). Ligos sells an AVI-to-MPEG1/MPEG2 converter plugin for AC that runs $29.95.

Converting field order B movie to full size MPEG2, LSX encoder sets no field order bit, or sets it incorrectly.

The result is inversed field order of MPEG2, when played on Hollywood+ and similar decoder.

LSX also produces files that have playback problems with H+ card at >5000 kbps datarate.

I emailed Ligos support about field order problem (it is on DV movies, converted to MPEG2 too) and got an answer that Ligos knows about it and will fix it in ... three months.

Of course, incorrect field order is not visible on PC screen.

I got the best results with bbmpeg. You have to increase motion vectors inside Advanced Video Settings, and ... wait 5 second per frame.
