  • HELP!!! Poor Benchmarks

    Hi all,

Well after reading several posts on benchmarks i decided to download
3DMark 99 MAX and see what i get for my card.
    My system is.

    PIII500
    128 meg RAM
    8 meg Matrox Marvel G200
    19 inch monitor
    HP CD writer
    Toshiba DVD player
Altec Lansing sub woofer sound system.

Well here are the benchmarks at.
    800x600 16bit
    87 Hz refresh rate.

    3DMark result 1,757 3DMarks
    Sythentic CPU 3D speed 7,566 CPU 3DMark
    Game 1 17.2 fps
    Game 2 18.0 fps

I have the 4.33 drvers Powerdesk 4 and vidtools 1.21

Why are the frames per second so slow, is there a problem with my system or is this normal for a G200 card which has not been overclocked.

Comments on how to improve this would be really appreciated since i play a lot of racing and strategy games.

    Cheers

    Tony

You should definitly check your system!

    My K6-3 450 system scores around 2800 3D and 7600 CPU.

Try checking your BIOS/PD AGP settings, and see if that changes anything.
Why would I send my pants to New Jersey?

Your system is about half what it should be. Do you have anything runnin in the background (SETI thingy) while you did that benchmark?
Also, check your system BIOS for cache settings and so on, make sure it's all on. You have a PIII, so you shouldn't (Ha!) have any stability probs when you enable everything....

Wizz, you may want to check if busmastering is enabled (run the PowerDesk Diagnostics thingy).

Get rid of all those colorful little icons on the task bar by the side of the clock. There are probably a lot of soundcard/NIC etc. control softwares you don't need. Especially the task scheduler should be removed.

          That will help some..

                Thanks guys,

I'll try all your tips. I'm also going to install the TNT card that came with the system to see what i get from that.
