      Elie,

Have they managed to patch it into "Usable" with this SP ? ;-)

        You know something Pertti
Microsoft didn't even include any documentation as to what SP1 fixed
        Not good.

        Regards,
        Elie

Note that one of the Win98 SP1 components (Y2K_2) updates IO.SYS. If you install SP1, be sure to make a new crash disk and/or 'sys' your old ones from DOS. If you boot from floppies to program bios(s) or do maintainance be sure to dupe (with SP1 IO.SYS) or 'sys' those as well.

Don't know if booting from an "old" IO.SYS floppy will do any harm and I don't intend to find out.

Doc on SP1 components is at

          http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/downloads/corporate.asp

Spoke too soon I guess eh

Though I went to the Microsoft site and they still don't go into detail like they do with NT SP's oh well.

            Thanks Old Dog,
            Elie

From M$ Y2Kinfo.txt, installed in c:\windows when you do the upgrade ...

              Boot Strap (io.sys)
If the system is started at the precise instant that the system
Real Time Clock (RTC) date rolls over at midnight, the system
clock might display an inaccurate time/date. Restarting your
              computer corrects this problem.

For example, turn on your computer, and then restart it at the
exact same moment that your system's internal clock is changing
from 11:59:59 P.M. to 12:00:00 A.M. Your system might display an
incorrect day or year until the computer is restarted and the
internal clock resets itself. This is a test issue and not year
              2000 related.

              Sounds harmless enough ...
