  • Urban Terror Beta 2 (Q3A Mod) & graphic problems with my G400

Please kindly check out these screen shots on http://home.apu.edu/~philpi/temp/q3a-ut/ (images are blurred due to JPEG compression) ... Why am I getting these corruptions randomly? It is very annoying. I doubt it is lags (maybe little graphic glitches here and there). When these glitches occur, my game pause and sometimes sound stutters. I tried single player, and I don't seem to get those.

I tried Quake 3 Arena in single player and multiplayer (deathmatch). No problems there. However, I noticed UT is more choppier than regular Q3A.

Does anyone else get these problems?

    System configuration:
Intel Pentium III Katami/Slot 1 600 Mhz CPU (512KB cache), ASUS P3B-F -- 440BX (latest BIOS; Award Modular BIOS), 100 Mhz bus, 256 MB of SDRAM (Generic 128 MB PC100 + 128 MB Kingtson PC133), ATX Full Tower Case, 300W generic power supply, 2 ISA, 3 PCI, 1 AGP, 1 Shared PCI/ISA Slot, 2 USB ports, 512K L2 cache, IBM P72 17" monitor (6556 03N), Matrox Millenium G400 32 MB DualHead, Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! Platinum (not using LiveDrive), Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-M1212 6X/32X ATAPI/IDE CD-ROM drive, Plextor PX-W1210 PlexWriter (12/10/32A; IDE), external USR 33600 Sportster Faxmodem (Model: 0413; Product Code: 000839-03), 6.4 GB Quantum Fireball EIDE (6.4EX-A) HDD, Quantum Fireball Plus LM 15 GB 7200 RPM EIDE HDD, a 2-buttons PS/2 Logitech mouse, 3Com Fast EtherLink XL 10/100 Mb TX Ethernet NIC (3C905B-TX), Windows 98 (using Internet Explorer v5.5), two regular computer fans (CPU and normal), 1 custom fan, 1 HDD cooler, a HP DeskJet 560c printer, and an APC Back-UPS 650VA. Running MS DirectX 8, disabled Active Desktop, and Yamaha Sondius XG SoftSynthesizer v1.0 for better MIDI in Windows 98. Nothing is overclocked. Using a Belkin OmniCube (2-port; KVM and a 8-ports Netgear DS108 Hub 10/100 base for LAN and Netgear RT311 Router (for @Home cable modem service with a leased Terayon TeraPro cable modem [not DOCSIS]).

I look forward to receiving replies soon. This mod is cool except for the problems I have. Thanks!

I noticed if I lower my resolution to 800x600 pixels, I don't seem to get these glitches. BTW, I am at 16-bit mode to keep the FPS decent. Man, 800x600 is ugly!

Anyone else having problems at higher resolutions?

Is anyone else playing Urban Terror mod with their G400? Or just me?

The greater the polygon count the slower any game will be.(regardless of card used)

NO, and please don't take advice from peeps who haven't a clue about the G400(or any graphics card whatsoever).

This game (mod) is beta. Therefore it could very well could have issues of it's own that need attending to.

Well, I would love to tell the mod authors what the source of the problem is. What should I say as a reply in the thread?

Tell them to test it on a G400 and if neccessary contact Matrox DevRel.

Well, the question is: Are other G400 users having this problem? I haven't seen anyone else with a G400 yet. How about you?

How long did it take you to write up your computer components?

Only a few seconds. Just copy and paste from a ASCII text file . It is also online as well, so I don't have to remember and retype .
