  • i think Deus EX hates me

Deus Ex is the only game that i own that locks up (serious sam use to but that was the beta's). im not talking about once or twice after several hours of play, no, im talking about within 10-30 mins of playing.
yes i do have some things o/c'ed but i've tried the game when nothing is, and still locks.

does anyone else have probs with deus ex or any other game, or does deus ex just hate me?

I had a similar problem with SWAT 3 when the G400 was sharing IRQ with another device..

    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Actually it was the soundcard that was sharing IRQ.. I ran the DirectX tests and they revealed that the soundcard wasn't functioning properly.. Other games worked ok, but SWAT 3 kept crashing my PC..

              specs? or IRQs?

well i know my specs off hand so:

              Abit ZM6
celeron 566@850 (crashes at both speeds)
              256meg cas2 (crashes with cas3)
              G400 32meg @150/200 (haven't tried playing at default) with 6.51
SB live (latest drivers and Liveware3)
              Maxtor 30gig
              3com network card
win98se (updated as much as possible)

i've also noticed that when running winamp, IE 5.5 and quicktime or mediaplayer (7) it usually crashes.

Ok I cant help noticing that you have oc'ed both the cpu and g400, it might be heatrelated - then again maybe not since you have also tried running it non-oc'ed...

How long have you been running with your current install? It could be time for a format c:, it never ceases to amaze me how fast windows runs afterwards

                Can you post an irq-list?

i'll pst IRQ list once i get home, but if i do recall, the G400 is on #11 and so is osme IRQ steerng thing. i'll doulbe check that though.

i've been running the 6.51 drivers snice they came out (last month i think)

i would like to format c: soon (although i did do it 3-4 months ago) but i have a lot of work to do on it right now and can't give up a night or 2 to fix it, i will once exams are over though.

i'll try putting everything back down to normal levels again, just to make sure.

                          Im running out of ideas.

On big M's site their techpeople say that the g400 should run on irq 9,10 or 11 - I do not think however that this would cause your problems!?

Have you tried lowering the clock of your g400 to standard-speeds or mounted a fan on the heatsink? (Your signature says you haven't)?

there's a blue orb on the G400 right now, the cards doesn't feel hot.
i a couple of days i may take it off, lap it and reattach it, but don't think that will solve the prob.
