  • Nos of textures used per Game

    Just curious
Now that we have more unofficial info about the G550 (and its possible 3 textures per pipeline), what is the standard number of textures used in most games and does anyone know if there are any games on the market that will make use of 3 textures.

All games today only use 2 layers of textures at the moment (with a few minor exceptions). One texture is the base texture, the 2nd texture is the lightmap (that tells how dark the texture is).

Some games such as UT have what they call "Detail textures" which is a 3rd texture that is rendered over the first 2. Also EMBM (bump mapping) utilizes a third texture.
    Primary system specs:

Well, as the G400 supported EMBM in hardware, we can expect the G550 to do this, too, can't we? Will this mean 3 Textures per cycle + EMBM?
