<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">It's official, Activision has acknowledged the existence of the sequel to the game that was violence incarnate, Soldier of Fortune. Raven will be at the helm again, and they'll be using the Quake III Engine as a base this time around, so it's already sounding like a hit. Also, John Mullins will once again be the main character, so expect some continuity. Here's a clip of the official press release:

"In Soldier of Fortune 2 players once again assume the role of John Mullins, a military consultant working for the top-secret anti-terrorist group known as The Shop. In the game, players must tackle a wide-range of missions from hostage rescue and intelligence gathering, to search-and-destroy. Level design in Soldier of Fortune 2 is flexible enough to allow for multiple styles of play. Gamers can "hit 'em hard" with a frontal assault or use stealth weapons for a subtle approach.

Soldier of Fortune 2 brings unparalleled detail to PC gaming with vivid damage modeling and animations, accurate reproductions of actual weapons and missions taken from international hotspots including Prague, Colombia, Hong Kong and Kamchatka. In some cases mission maps or objectives are inspired by the experiences of the actual John Mullins, a former Special Forces officer and military "consultant."

Yeah, I'm sure there is no way that sucker will run on a G400MAX with a reasonable framerate

Why say that? Quake3 runs great on the G400, and it uses the Quake 3 Engine. Sure they modify it. But Alice also used Quake3's engine, and I had no problems beating that game...well besides it being a royal pain in the ass. But as far as frame rate and everything goes. It ran Great! And I don't even have the Max, I have a Marvel G400.

          Excellent news!
I really enjoyed Soldier of Fortune...
now THAT'S what I call a good first-person shooter! It makes the "head-shot" in UT look pretty tame.

S.O.F 1 was great, we were even playing it in the office on a PIII 500 with a G200 built in

S.O.F 2.0 should be awesome, the way they talk about ROAM etc.. And the Quake III engine is PERFECT because it runs like a charm on the G4x0 card, gotta try in the office though

            Cheers,
            Elie
