DOH! A Croteam programmer/designer replied with a bad news:
wll, about Matrox - bad news ... it seems that on some systems G400/450 will lock up with no apparent reason. We're working closely with Matrox' driver developer guys, but this bug is rather nasty one. Sorry.
Of course, in case of any additional problems, feel free to contact me.
Thanx very much for your support and good luck.
bye

Dang it! I won't be able to play SS then. I wonder how we missed this from the test versions? Does anyone else have this problem?Ant @ The Ant Farm (http://antfarm.ma.cx)

And I guess you're using the latest Win98 drivers?

H antdude,
I was mainly asking for the game settings ...
but besides that, it could also help to let us know your desktop and Zbuffer settingsDespite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

On that URL to Serious Sam forum, there is a list of config settings. Does that help?

I tried SS yesterday and it was slow, but stable ...
so either they fixed in the drivers or there's some setup difference.
Did you already try to use the fast rendering preset ?Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

I see by your other thread that you have an old version of win98 (ver. #1998), you should definately upgrade as that one is very unstable with many known problems!
