  • If you want G800 speculation . . .

If any of you want some fresh G800 speculation, go to the Beyond3D "general hardware" board and read the LONG thread entitled "better images for you" (or something like that). The B3d web master is posting some very sweet images from an undisclosed consumer-level card that hasn't been released yet. For reasons that are too lengthy to repeat here, most of the posters have convinced themselves that it's the G800. I have no idea if it's true, but it's at least fun (and whatever card it is, it looks great).

That's all fine and good, but how about a link?

        Geez--

        http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/noncgi...ML/002113.html

If that doesn't work, go to beyond3d.com, click on "the boards," click on "hardware talk" and click on the huge thread near the top entitled "more interesting shots . . ."

in one of those threads, somebody called 'Rom' posts a message... Dave (the administrator who runs the forum) reacts:

Rom, is this who I think it is?

maybe I'm just seeing ghosts... but maybe I'm not?

                Hmm....

I think this should go in MHW, so more people can see it.

Cool, if it's a NV20, perhaps we can finaly get a video card with decent image quality, FPS, AND OpenGL support! Woohoo!

I don't think it's a NV20. The image quality is too good to be nVidia And, the benchmarks shown are not much better than GF2 Ultra speed.

well... if Rags says it's a nV20 it could very well be

however, what strikes me is that nVidia has then integrated both multi-sample FSAA as those advanced anisotropic filtering capabilities, as well as HSR, in just one product refresh.

I would agree with what dZeus said. I don't think they could've done all that in a product refresh. However, the NV20 WAS delayed, and they released the Ultra as a stopgap, so this very well may be the reason it was delayed. But, it's still amazing to have all that done (and the image quality improve so much) in such a short (relatively) amount of time. But, from what I can gather, the site Beyond3D has never had good relations with nVidia, so it is unlikely they would send him a NV20. Though, it is possible he got his hands on an X-Box devel kit?
