  • Missing 2/3 of textures in Alice

    Can anybody help?
I am running the game at 800x600x32bit textures at max, eax2 sound.

    I have installed the patch.
    I am running win2000
    With DirectX 8.0a
    On a PIII 750MHz
    With MG400Max
I am running powerdesk ver: 6.21.41
    I am using bios version1.9 - 33

I seem to be missing all the wall textures.
Every creature appears to have the right (and jolly nice) textures.
Fo instances, the very first level. The only textures I can see, is creatures and the lamps. Everything else is black. Later i can see more textures, but theres always something missing.

You have to use MTSTUtil to set OpenGL to 'Optimize for accuracy'.
    this thread should also help

Go in your alice directory.... open the base directory... open the config.cfg with wordpad and the look for this

      seta r_ext_compiled_vertex_array "0"

change the 0 for a 1 and the problem should be solved.

Thx for Ur advice. I will try both later today, and post if it helps.

I thought that the patch was to remove the necessary editing of the config.cfg. Thats why I did not edit it before. As for the Matrox Util, I have never used it.

The patch is only meant to counter the ultra-low fps in some places in the game on the G400. You still need the r_ext_compiled_vertex_array 1 setting to get the proper textures and gamma.

            Works like a charm now.
            Thx all!

It IS a bit slow in 1024x768, but @800x600 its nice and smooth.

            Really a beautiful game.
