  • G200 Graphics Problems

    Hi there,

I've encountered some problems playing the 2 latest games I bought, and I hope I can get some help here. I'll first list my problems, then I'll give an outline of my computer.

    Problems:
    - In 3dMark2000, the helicopter demo, the left HUD is partially flashing all the time. This does not occur when I test my Voodoo card, it only happens when testing the G200.
    - In Colin McRae Rally 2.0, some graphics look really weird. A simple bitmap (in the menu) of a car would be cut in half (in a diagonal way), with half of the picture not appearing at all. Again, this does happen when running through my Voodoo 2 card.
    - In Project IGI, I get weird results when playing through my G200 card. When the game start with a fly-by scene that is rendered using the game's engine, all the ground textures are cut in half (again, diagonally), and only half the texture is visible. When using the Voodoo 2, this scene plays fine, but I get colour issues in the game itself.
    - In Dinosaur (someone else's game I tested), in the encyclopedia mode, some of the textures are completely missing, altough they appear when they are almost our of view (it's a 3d look-around scene).

In Project IGI, I managed to get the game running with 'half textures' by turning the detail level down, but the other problems remain whatever I do. By the way, what causes these texture problems when the detail level is turned up?

    Now for my system:

one thing you could try is installing older drivers, maybe you should try 6.04 and 5.55 and see if that helps you....

ps, you can also try changing ur colour to 32bit... see if that helps at all

I'm already on a desktop resolution of 800x600 w. a 32-bit colour palette. And I don't really want to go back to older drivers because they had serious issues with my Matrox card in combination with the VIA chipset (PC would crash every time a D3D app was run with Bus Mastering enabled). So can anyone shed some light of the problems I'm having with missing textures, a flashing HUD in the 3dmark2000 demo and messed up bitmaps in Colin McRae?
Thanks and happy holidays to all!
