  • What are the best Matrox drivers for game STABILITY

What drivers do you guys suggest for most stable gameplaying...I have the latest drivers - 6.10/11 - and have noticed some inconsistencies in playing some games (crashing). 5.41? 5.11? ?
    thnks

Tough question to answer without more info...

I imagine the answer has lots to do with what types of games you play and other system specs. Anyway, my .02

I ran the 5.41 drivers forever and finally made the switch to the 6.04 drivers recently (before the .10 came out).

Anyway, I got a slight increase in fps with the 6.04 set, but I don't see much difference at all.

My games don't crash more or less frequently than with 5.41.

I run my computer 24 hours a day and only reboot occasionally (maybe once every 2 weeks or so).

    My specs below...

    ------------------
    PIII 550@605
    IWill Motherboard VD133
    VIA Chipset
    256MB PC133 CAS2 Crucial

    DirectX 7.0
    SB Live! Value
    8x DVD (Toshiba)
    6x4x24 CDRW (Sony)
    Intel Pro/100+ NIC
    3Com CMX Cable Modem
    Optiquest V95 19"
    HP 812C Color Ink Jet
    Microtek flatbed scanner
    Intellimouse Explorer
    Surround Sound w/two subwoofers
    AND WAY TOO MANY GAMES!!!

For me, using the latest drivers (Win 98) seems to be the most stable (as well as good frame rates). Since loading them, (and even overclocking my cpu slightly), I don't think I've had a crash yet.
      Games played recently:
      UT
      NFS III
      GT Sports Car
      Populous III
      Q2
      System Shock 2
      Pod Racer
      Lots of Demos

My rig: P4 3.0GHz; Asus P4C800E; 1GB DDR 3200; AIW Radeon 9800 Pro; WD 120GB SATA; Plextor DVD burner; Liteon DVD reader; Audigy 2ZS; Logitech Z560 4.1; NEC FE991SB

Kid's rig: AMD XP 1600+; 512MB ram; GF4 Ti4600; Maxtor 60GB; Plextor CD burner; Sony DVD reader; SB Live; Cambridge 4.1 speakers; NEC FE991SB

      Other kid's rig: Athlon 2700+; ASUS A7N8X mobo; 512MB PC3200 ram; GF4 Ti4600; Maxtor 80GB; SB Live; Cambridge 2.1; NEC FE991SB; Liteon DVD-ROM

In theory the most stable drivers should be WHQL certified ones, in practice just try them all and see what's best

5.41 with 6.10 ICD. Kicks all around. Stability is best and it is the fastest config I could find. But I am on BX board with a non-o\c celeron.
