  • Overclocking G200...

I am using a tweak utility found here to overclock my G200 AGP to 95 from the default 89.5. Does anyone know how high I can overclock so as NOT to burn up the chip? I use ONLY a fan for the AMD CPU and the power sullpy. Thanks.

Best thing for you to do is add a fan (486 type or better) to your G200. OC it til you see glitches and then back it down a notch. That's all there is to say, your card will tell you what is too far by the glitches you see.

There really is no need to worry about burning up the chip unless you crank up the clock speed way beyond the corruption level.

Even then it'll still take a beating

Use pstrip or mgaTweak they will tell you what speed you are runing at! Default should be 84.5 core 112 mem!

Nehal, adding more mem to the G200 will not improve his proformance at all and if he's thinking of OCing it, that will degrade how far he can go, that is if any OC at all.

I'm sure his cpu is setup correct (notice the MB?). I believe he's at his limit do to running under Win2K with a G200 and other than OCing it, not much if anything will help.

SuRGV, are you running UT in OGL or DX? By the looks of it I'd guess DX.

See my post to your thread.

greebe: the OGL engine of UT is not very good..... i think if he is running DX... that should be fine...

                    Thanks people,
My computer is set up correctly. No problem is detected at all except slow gameplay with UT...
When overlocking my CPU to 800 MHz (6x133), my computer can run very well but no noticeable improvement in performance..
Too bad for a P3 at that speeds!! Maybe the only solution is to get a new card???? I'll do it if it's free.. hehehe

                      Forgot to mention..
I play UT using DX mode since the G200 driver come with Windows 2000 does not support OpenGL (that's why I can't play Quake 3)

Your only real option here is to get another /faster card... and in a few I'm sure some nVidiot will popup and say...
