  • 6.10 drivers with ReVolt in w9x

I had been running ReVolt (patched to v1.10) fine with the PD 6.04 drivers at 1024x768x32 with 24 bit textures.

With the PD 6.10 drivers, I had to change the the setting in ReVolt to use 16 bit textures, but I'm still running at 1024x768x32. With 24 bit textures with PD6.10, nearly all the textures were really hosed.

Does this game still have the "crash" problem. I remember playing with the demo and after a few minutes the game would just freeze. I read that even the full version had this problem. It was a fun game and I considered buying it, but didn't because of this issue. That was some time ago and several driver versions ago. If it works good now, maybe I'll pick it up in the bargain bin.

I get crashes when I use the "hardware 3d sound" option, and I've got a Diamond Monster Sound MX300 with the reference Aureal drivers. When I tell it to just do stereo sound, it works fine.

There is one other trick to double your frame rates with your G400 that is listed on Matrox's webpage regarding 3d game compatability. It is a bit annoying because you have to do it every time you load the program. I forget exactly what the option is called in ReVolt, but it is the third item in the video render settings menu. Change it from linear to anistrophic (sp!), and then back to linear.

Yes, for Revolt the problem is back with PD 6.10 and for Grand Prix 3 (v 1.13) it has shown up first with 6.04 and rendered the game unplayable with 6.10. Reverted 5.52.
