  • HEL P- Not About Matrox (WinMe and DOS)

Just installed WinMe to found out that my daughter (3 years old) games have a DOS Sound Setup what I was told doesn't work .

Altough I heard there exists some programs to bypass this situation but I couldn't find them.

    Can anyone help me ?

unfortunately win ME has no dos support, but you can get into dos mode if you make a boot disc under win98 or win95, you could use this to boot into dos and set the sound up there.

    hope this helps.

I don't run ME but I spotted this fix today to get ME to support DOS.

Adding to what xortam said, if you load a config.sys and an autoexec.bat that have the drivers for the soundcard, you probably could load the game in WinME with sound!

I run the old DOS game Transport Tycoon with sound and music in a DOS box (maximized), without a problem in WinME.

But not all old DOS games do that. I think you need a real SoundBlaster card for it (and even an older one) to get that to work.
