  • quake3 and 2 monitors

Ive been lurking around here and seen talk of setting up 2 monitors so that Quake3 can be played. I have set up 2 monitors but I cannot play quake 3 unless I disable the 2nd monitor.
My question is: What do I need to do to sort it out, what is turboGL/openGL and do I have them on my machine??

I have installed the latest drivers for my g400 (6.04 powerdesk) but is there anything else that I will have to do??

Are there any games them can be played spread over the 2 monitors??

    Thanks for any help

OpenGL is a graphics language the requires an ICD (Installable Client Driver) to work. This ICD is installed when you set up the drivers for the G400, so yes, you have OpenGL on your machine.

TurboGL is similar to an MCD (Mini Client Driver). It only contains the OpenGL calls needed by games. Matrox originally released TGL to speed up game performance. The ICD has matured and gotten faster since then, so TGL isn't really needed for performance...but it's still good for doing what you are looking for. If you are running TurboGL, you can leave your second monitor enabled while you play OGL games.
TurboGL is a separate package from the drivers. You will need to download TGL and install it separatly. You can find it here at MURC, or on Matrox's drivers pages.

As far as games that support dual monitors, yes there are a number of them. MS flight sims, Star Trek:Armada, and many others.
Check Matrox's 3D gaming section for a complete list.

Soz about the crfoss posting, I wasn't sure where I should put the question so I erred on the side of caution and tried to cover two bases at once!!!
