  • g200 and xwing alliance dark textures problem

I've buyed my copy of this game today....
i've a little problem, with my videocard (matrox g200) the textures are too
dark, every ship is deep dark grey, even with brightness to maximum.
The same problem that i had with quake 2, in that case there was an utility
to modify the texture brightness in the game...
there is something like this for this game?
    other solutions?
    Thanks

Go to the settings page for the desktop Display Properties. Hit Advanced, then select the color page. Where it says Contrast (gamma), make sure the link button is checked and drag the gamma up some (I push it up to the first "notch" above the middle for EQ and CS). That'll make everything brighter, including 2D stuff, so you'll want to turn it back down if you don't like the look when you're done playing games.

I've read that the problem is Matrox defaults the 3D gamma setting to 1.00, and 3Dfx set their defaults to something like 1.30 way back when they made the orginal Voodoo card. Many games assume a gamma setting that's the Voodoo default and thus look awful on Matrox cards. Everquest and Counter-Strike (although strangly enough Half-Life and TFC seem to be fine without cranking the gamma) are two that comes to mind.
