hmmmmmm !..I dont have this game but reading your post.. the only thing what seems to be wrong is your OPEN GL setup ..so or your G400/G200 drivers (I dont knowe what you have) didnt install properly ..OR in GAME VIDEO setup for RENDERING DEVICE you put 3DFX MINIGL what is for VOODOO2/3/5 cards ONLY..if so please set for STANDARD OPEN GL what will use your MATROX ICD OpenGL drivers & the game sould work..good luck !

Unfortunately I can't even get into the game to change any settings!

I am running the latest (5.14) drivers for Win2k. Is there a way to setup the OGL driver specifically for EF?

Make sure that you don't have opengl32.dll in the elite force directory, and you have your desktop set to 16 or 32 bit color depth.

          System specs would be helpful.
for all we know you are runnong a p90 with 16meg of ram and a mystique 220.

Assumming you are using something more current (like a G400), make sure
          -DualHead mode is disabled
-you are set to 16 or 32bit, not 24bit desktop color
-you have a unique IRQ (9 or higher) assigned to your G400

            Okay sorry =)

            P3-450
            196MB RAM
            G400 32MB DH (used both beta 5.14 and 5.04)
            SB Live!
            Windows 2000 Pro, SP1

The EF directory does not have opengl32.dll in it, should it have?

G400 is on IRQ 11, which is shared with the Adaptec U2940 SCSI adapter (not SB Live!). My desktop is set at 16-bit color. DualHead is disabled.

well..Who knowes if this game works properly under W2K..so from your previous post is to be seen that he game setup canot detect correctly G400-OGLicd:
(...assuming '3dfxvgl' is a standalone driver
              ...initializing QGL
...WARNING: missing Glide installation, assuming no 3Dfx available
              ...shutting down QGL

              -----------------------
GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem)

the game is looking for a 3DFX (GLIDE) OpenGL system so this could be :

MATROX ICD problem ,general driver problem, wrong game setup(try to find a detect script & see if you can point the sistem to use STANDARD OPENGL)

besides G400 DONT LIKE SHAREINGS of any kind trye to separate G400 from Adaptec U2940 SCSI adapter this could make the card not be recognized correctly by the game..

please POST your IRQ list this could help us finding a right solution

LOOK for a PATCH if there is some on game official site..

              bye !

You may have already tried this, but... Uninstall and then reinstall the game.

And... Do you have any other games on your system that work OK? Specifically ones that use any of the quake engines (QA3, Q2, Halflife).

Half-Life and Q3a have run fine on my computer (even though I didn't play it very much).

The first thing I tried was uninstalling and re-installing again.

                    Still doesn't work!!

OK ! it is clear that you canot change the IRQs software or BIOS way ..you should OPEN your PC CASE & change the SB LIVE! forme one PC slot to another & you can DESABLE COM2 & COM1 in case you dont need it or atleast one of them wich will give to you an extra IRQ..cahnging the PCI slots with SB LIVE will resault changing other peripherials around ,after each change check your IRQ status LIST maybe you will find the right solution haveing G400 alone on some IRQ the best 11 or 10..

strange! if you have played Q3 wich is OGL only or HALF LIFE (DX/OGL) before & with these IRQ settings hmmmmm then it will be wery dificult..trye to install Q3 again just to see if it will work properly , if so then the G400 drivers & ICD works FINE & the only thing what is left is E.F. wich doesnt work wery well under WIN2K...

                      good luck !

I have played through the demo on my machine with Win2k and G400 MAX, so the problem isn't with the game.

I would suggest (as has been mentioned before), copying your save game directory somewhere safe, uninstalling the game (and deleting any files left over), reinstalling the game, and copying your save files back.

This should reset the video options for the game.

You could actually the CD to see if there is a standard .cfg file you can copy over your existing one.

I'll have to try it on my bro's system to see how it runs on w2k and see if it's related to the video card drivers(G400 max).

Just got through playing through the first act of the story. Everything ran well on the G450 I have. My question is does anyone know of any multiplayer servers that are out there yet?
